Starting a new role in a new sector can be a daunting experience, but the right support, encouragement and team around you can make all the difference.
In the latest edition of our Employee Spotlight series, we catch up with Daniel Anderson, one of our Client Relationship Managers, to find out about his first few months at Brady Solicitors, the milestones he has already achieved and what he is looking forward to next.
Finding a New Challenge at Brady Solicitors
Before joining Brady Solicitors, Daniel came from a customer service leadership background, having previously been responsible for managing a team.
When the opportunity at Bradys arose, the prospect of applying that experience in a different way, while entering an entirely new sector, immediately appealed.
“The initial attraction was the opportunity to pursue a position that relied upon my experience and strengths, working within a team of other Client Relationship Managers rather than managing a team myself. It was also a chance to move into a new and exciting sector for me.”
Like any move into a new industry, there was plenty to learn during those first few weeks. However, the level of support available made a lasting impression on Daniel.
“The first few weeks were busy, with a lot to digest and learn, but the striking thing was the support that was provided and the time afforded to me to learn at my own pace. This approach really helped me to settle in faster.”
That welcome extended beyond Daniel’s immediate team.
“Across the different departments within Bradys, it became clear very quickly just how much of a family feel there is, with everyone being so warm and welcoming.”
Building Strong Relationships with Clients and Referrers
As a Client Relationship Manager, Daniel acts as a dedicated point of contact between Brady Solicitors, its clients and referrers.
No two days are exactly the same, with the role ranging from answering general queries and providing updates on ongoing matters to liaising with case handlers and holding meetings to discuss more complex challenges.
“The key is making sure that all parties understand our process and what is expected, while providing stability and understanding when matters become more difficult.”
It’s a role that draws heavily on Daniel’s previous customer service experience while also requiring him to continually develop his understanding of the specialist work undertaken by the firm.
Reaching some Important Milestones
Despite only being a few months into the role, Daniel has already enjoyed several achievements that demonstrate how far he has progressed.
Passing his probationary period in three months was one important landmark, as was hitting both monthly and quarterly targets for the first time.
Another particularly memorable moment came when Daniel conducted his first onboarding call with a prospective new referrer.
“It really showed me just how much I had learnt throughout the weeks and months working for Bradys. It was a milestone moment for me.”
And not every highlight has been work related.
“The quarterly BBQ was a highlight as well!”
A Culture of Support and Togetherness
The supportive nature of the Brady Solicitors culture has played a significant role in Daniel’s experience so far.
“The culture at Bradys is something really special. Everyone is happy to support and guide you through anything at the drop of a hat. It gives everyone the perfect environment to thrive and reach their potential.”
That sense of support is particularly evident within the Client Relationship Management team.
“What I enjoy most is the camaraderie, the knowledge and the togetherness. The team had already been together for a few years, which shows in the positive team dynamic. The help and support they have all given me, and continue to give me, is truly appreciated.”
Learning Through Challenges
Building expertise in a new sector inevitably comes with challenges. For Daniel, some of the biggest learning opportunities have arisen through handling more difficult conversations with clients and referrers.
Rather than viewing these moments negatively, they have become an important way for him to measure his development and growing knowledge.
“There have been a number of challenging conversations with referrers and clients over the past few months, but it’s during those challenging times that I’m able to see the progress I’ve made and the knowledge I’ve retained.”
Having access to experience and expertise from across the business has also helped Daniel approach these situations with increasing confidence.
“These challenges have been easier to overcome with the support of both my team and the wider Bradys departments, with their extensive knowledge and experience.”
Looking Ahead to the Next Chapter
With a successful first few months behind him, Daniel is now looking forward to continuing his personal development and seeing how his role evolves as Brady Solicitors grows.
In particular, he is excited about the next stage of the firm’s journey following the recent investment from LDC.
“I’m looking forward to seeing my own personal development within my role, but also seeing the growth of Bradys as a whole following the recent investment by LDC. Exciting times ahead!”
As that growth continues, Daniel expects his own responsibilities to develop alongside it.
“I expect my role to grow and my workload to increase over time, which is really exciting.”
For now, his focus remains firmly on learning, asking questions and making the most of the expertise available throughout the business.
“My goals are to continue learning, asking questions and utilising the vast array of experience within the people at Bradys to provide exceptional service to my clients.”
Advice for Anyone Considering Brady Solicitors
For somebody thinking about taking the next step in their career with Brady Solicitors, Daniel has a simple message:
“Take that leap! Bradys is a great place to work where you are truly supported and given the chance to grow personally and professionally.”
And once you arrive, Daniel believes there is one thing new starters should make sure they do:
“Never stop asking questions. The team at Bradys are so knowledgeable, it will only benefit you and strengthen your own knowledge base.”
Three Words to Describe Brady Solicitors
Asked to sum up his experience at Brady Solicitors so far in just three words, Daniel chose:
Enjoyable. Rewarding. Transformative.
Those three words capture Daniel’s first few months at the firm, from entering a completely new sector to hitting important targets, successfully completing his probation and becoming a trusted point of contact for clients and referrers.
We’re delighted to have Daniel as part of the Brady Solicitors team and look forward to seeing him continue to develop as both his role and the business grow.
