At Brady Solicitors, we are committed to helping our people develop their skills, grow their careers and reach their potential. In the latest edition of our Employee Spotlight series, we catch up with Aneesah Khan, Litigation Legal Executive at Brady Solicitors, to discuss her journey so far, the opportunities that attracted her to the firm, and her ambitions for the future.
Joining Brady Solicitors
When Aneesah was considering her next career move, professional development was a top priority.
The opportunity to work in a specialist area of law while learning from experienced colleagues made Brady Solicitors an attractive prospect from the outset.
“The opportunity to learn was probably the biggest attraction for me. The interview process gave me a really positive impression of the mentorship available and the competitive package was also a factor too. It felt like a role where I could genuinely develop my skillset.”
Those positive impressions were reinforced during her first few weeks with the firm.
“What stood out was how friendly and approachable the seniors were. There has been a lot to learn, but I feel comfortable to ask questions.”
For Aneesah, that open and supportive environment has made the transition into a new specialist area of law both enjoyable and rewarding.
Developing Expertise in Property Management Litigation
As a Litigation Legal Executive at Brady Solicitors, Aneesah works across a broad range of property management litigation matters, helping clients navigate complex legal issues and achieve practical solutions.
One of the aspects she enjoys most about the role is the variety it offers.
“There really isn’t a typical day and that’s what I love! I work across a range of property management litigation matters, from lease review and service charge issues, to breaches of lease and enforcement advice.”
The varied nature of the work means there is always something new to learn, presenting regular opportunities to expand both technical knowledge and practical experience.
Growing in Confidence
Although Aneesah has only been with the firm for a relatively short period of time, she is already proud of the progress she has made.
Rather than identifying one particular matter or project, she points to her overall professional development as her standout achievement so far.
“Probably how much I have learned in a short space of time. I’m much more confident picking up matters and identifying the key issues now than I was when I first joined.”
That growing confidence reflects both her commitment to learning and the support available across the business.
A Culture of Collaboration and Support
When asked to describe the culture at Brady Solicitors, Aneesah answer is concise but powerful:
Respectful. Ambitious. Collaborative.
These qualities are reflected not only in the way teams work together, but also in how knowledge is shared across the firm.
For Aneesah, the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues has been one of the most valuable aspects of joining Brady Solicitors.
“Being able to learn directly from experienced seniors while having a laugh along the way.”
That balance between professionalism, expertise and camaraderie has helped create an environment where people feel comfortable developing their skills and asking questions.
Embracing New Challenges
Like many people moving into a new specialist area, Aneesah’s biggest challenge has been adjusting from being the person providing guidance to others to becoming the person learning again.
In her previous role, she had built significant technical expertise in litigation, managing her own caseload and was regularly involved in training colleagues. Starting afresh in a specialist area required a shift in mindset, allowing her to build on her existing experience.
“Going from feeling very confident in my technical knowledge in my previous role, where I was helping to train others, to being the one learning again in a new and technical area of law. It has taught me to embrace that I might not know everything yet and not to shy away from asking questions.”
Rather than seeing this as a setback, Aneesah views it as an important part of her professional growth and development.
Highlights Beyond the Day Job
While legal development has been a major highlight of Aneesah’s first few months, some of her favourite memories have come from getting involved in wider firm activities.
One standout moment was participating in Brady Solicitors’ Macmillan Coffee Morning.
“The Macmillan Coffee Morning has been a highlight so far. It was lovely seeing everyone support a great cause and I’ll take any opportunity to show off my banana bread!”
It’s these moments that help bring colleagues together and reinforce the strong sense of community across the firm.
Looking Ahead
As she continues her journey at Brady Solicitors, Aneesah is excited about further developing her expertise and taking on increased responsibility.
“I’m most excited about building my technical knowledge further and developing my caseload.”
Looking further ahead, she sees herself becoming increasingly independent while continuing to build a specialist reputation in her field.
“I see myself becoming more independent and developing my specialism, while also getting more involved in the social side of the firm.”
Her long-term ambition is clear.
“My goal is to become an expert in the field – technically strong, commercially aware and someone clients can rely on.”
Advice for Anyone Considering Joining Bradys
For anyone thinking about joining Brady Solicitors, Aneesah believes the key is embracing every opportunity to learn and get involved.
“Come ready to learn and get involved.”
And if she could offer one final piece of advice?
“Be curious, ask questions and enjoy it!”
Three Words to Describe Brady Solicitors
When asked to summarise her experience at Brady Solicitors so far in just three words, Aneesah chose:
Challenging. Supportive. Rewarding.
Those three words perfectly capture her journey to date. From learning a new area of law and building confidence in her expertise, to developing relationships with colleagues and getting involved in firm initiatives, Aneesah’s experience demonstrates the opportunities available to those who are eager to learn, embrace challenges and continue growing professionally.
We’re delighted to have Aneesah as part of the Brady Solicitors team and look forward to supporting her continued development in the years ahead.
