Employee Spotlight: Encouragement, Progression & Achievement – Connor Hutt’s Brady Journey

At Brady Solicitors, we are passionate about creating opportunities for people to develop their careers, expand their expertise, and achieve their professional ambitions. In this edition of our Employee Spotlight series, we catch up with Connor Hutt, who joined the firm in September 2023 and has already progressed from Legal Assistant to Trainee Solicitor. Connor’s story is a fantastic example of the career development, support, and progression available at Brady Solicitors.

Starting a Career at Brady Solicitors

Connor joined Brady Solicitors shortly after graduating from university, with a clear goal in mind: to gain valuable legal experience and secure a pathway towards qualification as a solicitor.

The specialist nature of Brady Solicitors’ work was a major attraction, particularly the opportunity to build a career within property-related law.

“What drew me to Bradys specifically was the area of law. Being around property, I believe it’s a good area to invest in because there will always be houses. I could also see there was a clear path for progression, with opportunities to move from Legal Assistant through to Paralegal, Trainee Solicitor and beyond.”

For Connor, Brady Solicitors offered exactly what he was looking for at the beginning of his legal career: a specialist firm with genuine opportunities to progress and develop professionally.

A Journey of Continuous Progression

When asked what has kept him at Brady Solicitors, Connor’s answer is simple:

“Career progression – easy peasy.”

In under three years, Connor has progressed through multiple roles within the firm, moving from Legal Assistant to Support Paralegal, then Paralegal, and now Trainee Solicitor.

This rapid development reflects both Connor’s dedication and Brady Solicitors’ commitment to investing in talented individuals who are eager to learn and grow.

Along the way, he has also been trusted with significant responsibilities and unique opportunities.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to work with one of the firm’s biggest clients as their main case handler and even visit their offices in London. I’ve also represented Bradys at award ceremonies alongside colleagues.”

These experiences have helped Connor broaden his knowledge, build strong client relationships, and gain valuable exposure early in his career.

A Culture Built on Support

One theme that runs throughout Connor’s experience is the supportive culture that exists across the firm.

When describing Brady Solicitors to someone considering joining, Connor immediately highlights the friendliness of the people around him.

“I don’t think I’ve met anyone at Bradys who hasn’t engaged in conversation or wanted to know more about me, whether that’s about my role or my life outside of work. It creates an environment where you can approach anyone and ask for help.”

Connor believes this collaborative culture is one of the things that makes Brady Solicitors stand out.

“You’re supported rather than constantly looked over. You’re encouraged to be the best version of yourself without feeling like if you’re not operating at 110%, your job is on the line.”

The firm’s commitment to teamwork is something Connor sees demonstrated every day.

“We have weekly face-to-face team meetings and there’s never any hesitation to pick up the phone or walk over to another department if somebody needs help. We’re a very collaborative bunch.”

This openness and willingness to support one another creates an environment where people can develop quickly and confidently.

More Than Just a Workplace

Connor also points to the approachable nature of everyone at the firm as something that might surprise those outside the business.

“Whether you’ve just started at Bradys or you’re a Director, you can go and speak to anyone without feeling nervous. Everyone will make time for you, whether the question is big or small.”

And, on a lighter note:

“The amount of snacks we get is insane. I think I could forget my lunch for a few days and still have enough food to keep me going!”

Beyond the snacks, Connor particularly values the flexibility and understanding he has received from the firm.

“Bradys has been very supportive when I’ve needed additional time working from home to help look after my father when my mum has been out of town. That support has been amazing.”

A Proud Achievement

When reflecting on his proudest achievement to date, Connor points to a significant milestone in both his career and the firm’s history.

“Becoming the firm’s first SQE Trainee Solicitor.”

For Connor, this achievement represents the fulfilment of the goal he set himself when he first joined Brady Solicitors.

“The whole intention of starting as a Legal Assistant was to work my way up and become a solicitor, and I’ve been graciously afforded exactly that opportunity.”

Motivated by Success

Connor is driven by both personal satisfaction and delivering excellent outcomes for clients.

“You know when you’ve done a good job on a file and that feeling is surprisingly very good. It makes you want to ensure you get that feeling on every case.”

This commitment to continuous improvement and client satisfaction continues to drive his development as a legal professional.

Looking to the Future

Connor is excited about the direction Brady Solicitors is heading and the opportunities that continued growth will create for both the firm and its people.

“The company’s aim to become the leading firm in this area of law shows we do not anticipate slowing down anytime soon.”

For Connor, the future is about continuing to develop his skills, take on new challenges, and contribute to the firm’s ongoing success. Having already achieved his goal of becoming a Trainee Solicitor, he is looking forward to building on that foundation and progressing further in his legal career.

With a clear vision for the future and a strong commitment to developing its people, Brady Solicitors remains a place where ambitious individuals can grow, thrive, and achieve their career goals.

Advice for Anyone Considering Brady Solicitors

Connor’s advice for prospective candidates is straightforward:

“Get involved with everything Bradys has to offer. Push yourself to talk to everyone and ask questions because you won’t know everything – I can assure you of that.”

He believes that curiosity, willingness to learn, and building relationships across the firm are key ingredients for success.

One Word to Describe Brady Solicitors

When asked to sum up his experience in one word, Connor chooses:

Encouraging.

“As a trainee, I often have questions about the best way to approach something. Rather than feeling like a nuisance, I’m encouraged to ask questions and work through any issues with the support of my team.”

It’s a fitting description of Connor’s journey so far — one defined by progression, opportunity, support, and achievement.

We’re proud to have Connor as part of the Brady Solicitors team and look forward to supporting him throughout the next stage of his legal career. If his journey is anything to go by, there are many more milestones to come.
